Frequently Asked Questions

If you have a question do not hesitate to ask.

We have answers. Most of your frequently asked questions can be found here.

  • You must identify as a member of the Black community and be facing economic hardship that is making it difficult for you to cover the full cost of therapy.

We recognize the entire diaspora including; those from the Caribbean, South America, Africa, Europe, and all parts of the world. We affirm all religions, genders, sexuality, and disabilities within our work. We center the most marginalized voices.

  • We are currently leaving this to your discretion. We ask that you do not abuse the funds as there are individuals who would not be able to receive therapy if it weren’t for the Therapy Fund Foundation. Many people utilizing the funds have been impacted by COVID-19 and are facing financial hardship. All funds are received through donations and distributed on a first come first serve basis.

If you can afford therapy sessions, we ask that you please consider donating to the therapy fund foundation or refrain from using the therapy fund.

  • “Thank you for organizing this. I literally have tears in my eyes as I type this because no one cares like Black women...I’ve been searching for a Black woman therapist for months and when I finally found her I couldn’t afford her.”

    — S. Green

  • "For the first time in my life, I’ve been able to see a therapist consistently (weekly) for an entire year. That’s something I never thought I’d be able to say. The Therapy Fund Foundation gave me 8 free sessions with a therapist of my choice, and because of that, I kept going. I’ve now been blessed with additional financial support to continue therapy into 2026.

Honestly, I don’t know how I would’ve made it through this year without it.

So shoutout to my incredible therapist, and to every single person who has ever been vulnerable enough to share their own therapy journey on this app. I can never thank y’all enough. If you’re looking for support on your own healing journey, check out The Therapy Fund Foundation. They might just change your life. "

    — Ashley Kay Smith

  • "The way the vet team gets back to you in weeks and really supports you is so beautiful"

    — W. Livingston
